Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) opens in Atril. The Holy Bible using short sentences and a small vocabulary. Compiled by the World Bible Translation Center. Originally published as the English Version for the Deaf by Baker Books in 1987. Uses the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (1984) as its Old Testament text with some readings from the Dead Sea Scrolls. Also, it follows the Septuagint when its readings are considered more accurate. For the New Testament, the ERV uses the United Bible Societies’ Greek New Testament (4th revised edition, 1993) and Nestle-Aland Novum Testament Graece (27th edition, 1993). Created by the translation team at Bible League International (2014).
King James Version (KJV) opens in Atril. Holy Bible: Authorized Version, Standardized Text, Strong’s Numbers. An early modern English translation sponsored by King James I, originally commissioned in 1604 for the Church of England and originally published in 1611. The third translation approved by English church authorities, the KJV became the most famous Bible in history. But spelling, grammar and punctuation all needed updating and the Standardized Text of the King James Version in use today was actually published in 1769. American theologian James Strong oversaw the index of every word in the Standardized Text which became known as Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible.
