FLASH IS DEAD
In 2011, when Computers4Christians first started, there were over a billion users of Adobe Flash. The SWF Flash file format was used for ActionScript, animation and vector graphics in thousands upon thousands of Flash videos and games. There were issues though; Flash itself was buggy and had security vulnerabilities. 10 years later, in 2021, Flash was dead.
GNASH IS DEAD TOO
Computers4Christians used Gnash (a free and open source alternative to the Adobe Flash Player) and then later, Gnash in a Snap container to play the Flash content included in our distro. But, Gnash received it’s last update the same year C4C began and the Snap “ecosystem” requires a lot of space.
RUFFLE TO THE RESCUE!
Ruffle Desktop is a modern, updated, open source, stand-alone, Flash Player emulator that plays the 12 Apostles Quiz and Memory Game, the 24 SWF videos in Christian Video Shorts, the 24 files in Fun Bible Stuff, and the 117 Flash Bible Games perfectly. And it runs natively and securely in C4C Ubuntu. Ruffle is also available as an add-on for Firefox (and most any other modern web browser) so you can use Flash websites and play Flash games online.
